The United States celebrates Independence Day on July 4th. This day commemorates the day in 1776, that the United States adopted the Declaration of Independence, which declared our freedom from the Kingdom of Great Britain. On the Fourth of July, many people get together and have a barbeque or go to the beach. Almost everyone has a party. In San Diego, people have the chance to see awesome fireworks shows in several parts of the county.The most popular show is downtown, where fireworks go off in three different places around the bay. Another popular tradition is hanging the American Flag from porches. This day unites all Americans in celebration.

HIA News

Last week, students from HIA went to La Jolla to enjoy the afternoon. Some of the things we enjoyed were: La Jolla Cove, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the cliffs, and watching the seals bathing in the sun. We even saw a baby seagull!
