HIA Staff will be available to assist with any housing questions or concerns you may have. We want to help you understand new situations, immerse yourself in your new environment and make new friends. Our counselors are culturally diverse, knowledgeable and have experience with the international students' needs away from home.

A homestay is one of the best ways to experience American daily life, learn about American culture, and practice your English skills. Through our affiliated homestay agencies, we are able to match you with the most suitable family. Our homestay agencies have many years of experience and have a good understanding of the international student's needs. |
| Students may indicate their family and location preferences prior to their family placement. All families are carefully selected and continuously screened. We listen carefully to our students' comments as to their family and homestay arrangements. In case you are not happy with your homestay arrangement, we will try to find a solution for you or place you with another family, if desired. |
| You will have a private room in a caring family environment. The family will provide you with two meals per day (breakfast and dinner). As an additional option, students may choose a homestay without meals. Linens and towels will be provided. |

Residence Club

The residence club Studio 819 is in trendy Hillcrest, Studio 819 is close to shops, restaurants and public transportation. Each studio apartment is fully furnished and has a bed, desk, closet, private bathroom, sink, refrigerator, microwave, telephone and TV. Linen, towel and blankets will be provided. Students may reserve a private studio or share a studio with your friend.
The residence club also has an on-site computer room with Internet access, laundry facilities. Meals are not included. Students who wish to cook their own meals can use the community kitchen. The residence club is located close to HIA and San Diego Downtown. Students must arrange for their own transportation to and from the airport. (HIA airport pick up service is available upon request.)

When I wake up in the morning, I turn on the TV and watch the latest news both local, national and International.
After breakfast I jump in the car and head for the nearest "driving range" where I see the sun come up.
At 9am I attend the morning class; at 12.15 it's time for lunch in the sun with friends outside the school building, In the evening I attend a various selection of fighting classes at Undisputed at North Park. (approx. 2 miles from Studio 819).
After a good workout it's time for dinner, and there are an array of different restaurants in the area.
Personally I prefer the Wholefoods market with their everyday tasty meals. You can choose from all kinds of different dishes, both warm and cold.
Often the day ends with an hour or two just chillin' in front of the TV.

During the weekend there are numerous things to do.
There is often some kind of market, fair, or celebration of some kind that might be worth experiencing in San Diego.
If you are in possession of a car your opportunities are bigger. Los Angeles is worth mentioning and of course Las Vegas. But, if you don't possess a car it's possible to take the trolley or hop on one of the guided tours that the city has to offer.
There is a lot of malls that are worth taking a look at with shops, diners and movie theaters.
If you feel like spending a day at the beach there are a lot of them to choose from, but the most attended on my behalf is Ocean beach and Pacific beach.
La Jolla is a very beautiful town that is one of my favorite places to go, mainly because of the beautiful scenery but also for the many dining spots.
Nighttime here in San Diego is very good. There are a lot of people but yet not too crowded Foreigners should always bring their passports because picture id on debit/credit cards and drivers licenses from foreign countries is not considered as valid Id.

Comment about life at Studio819

The people working at Studio819 has been very helpful and friendly towards me.
In the reception there are computers with internet access, and if you should run into any problems the receptionist is available 24/7.
The rooms are somewhat simple but you have all your necessaries like: bed, TV, sink, fridge and a bathroom with a shower.
There are kitchens on three different floors where you can cook, or if you want, it is a place to hang out or have small parties with friends.
On the first floor there are Laundromats and drycleaners that are available for the residents.
If you possess a car the studio offers a very convenient parking garage underneath the studio which is closed off from trespassers.

Appartamento ammobigliato
Our new furnished apartments are located in the northern part of downtown. It takes 15 to 20 min to HIA by bus, and 5 min to downtown. The location is very quiet, moreover it is within walking distance of beautiful Balboa Park!!
The apartment has a living room, kitchen space, bathroom and bedroom. A small one-bedroom apartment is for one or two (a friend) people, and a large one-bedroom apartment is for two students who are matched through our program.
Our lovely furnished apartments are a great place to stay while in San Diego!
